bluest eyes questions

1. What do the "blue eyes" symbolize? The blue eyes repesent beauty, cofidence for pecola, and white people.

2. With current technology, anyone could have blue eyes with the help of contact lenses. Is the desire to have blue eyes the same as Pecola's? Why or why not?
Yes, because pecola wanted blues eyes so she could fill good about herself and if you get blue eyes by using contact lenses you would be like pecola, meaning that you both are desiring to be somebody you are not.
3. What role does Soaphead Church play in this novel? Why is his character important? The soaphead church plays a fortuneteller. his character is so important because he gave pecola her blue eyes that she always wanted.

4. In many ways, this novel is about loss. Give as many examples of loss as possible. Pecola lost her baby, her innocence, her father, cholly lost his aunt jimmy, claudia lost her mind when she tore her white doll up, pecola lost her mind when she was talking to herself, pecola lost her virginity at a very age, mr. henry lost his mind when he malested freida, claudia and freida's mama always lost her temper on them, and the soaphead church lost his mind when he malested young girls.

5. Why do you suppose that Cholly tried to burn the house down with his family in it? Cholly tried to burn down the house with his family still in it because he was trying to burn his past and start fresh or he was just plain out crazy.

6. The novel offers hope. Find evidence and support it. Freida and Claudia tried to help pecola keep her baby by planting a marigold seed with two dollars.

7. What do the seeds represent?
The seeds repersent life, Pecola's baby, and Cholly.
8. In the end, when Pecola has the dialogue with her imaginary friend, how does the blue eyes comfort her? The blue eyes comfort her because her and her imaginary "friend" were talking about how her father raped her and pecola started getting mad and then her "friend" changed the subject to her eyes and pecola started getting excited about her eyes.

9. How was Pecola like holy water for the whole town?
Pecola was like holy water for the whole town because holy water purifies you and pecola purified the whole town. i'm guessing she purified the town because the town had something to talk about her and they could see how different she was from everybody else. They saw her different from everybody else, she was ugly, she was raped by her father at 11 years old and became pregnant by her father, and her baby died after it was born.

critique of bluest eye

i find the book very interesting from the first page. when i read the title i thought it was going to be boring, but it turned out to be really good. i think it may be a book i would get for myself. it's very dramatic and i think they should make a movie out of this because this as a movie could be sold for millions and i think everybody would enjoy this book just as much as i do.

letter to mc

dear mc,

my name is ac. my favorite type of music is hiphop and r&b. i do both hip hop and ballet dance on saturdays for rehearsal, and then dance at my church on sundays. my nickname for my family is nicole or they just call me ac. i'm 14 yrs old and my birthdate is anonymous.
my strengths in english is vocabulary or vocabulary work. my weakness in english is writing good research because i can't seem to get my punctuation and grammar together. vocabulary is my strongest because i pass most of my test, but that's only if i study hard enough. research papers and me do not cooperate because i get a boring topic and i don't really know how to use my grammar correctly. i just need to work harder on my research papers.
my favorite things about english is when we get to write stories and read different books. my least favorite things about english is research papers and vocabulary words. i really enjoy writing stories because i can use my imagination and write good, dramatic stories about different characters. i find vocabulary words very boring, but i could use them in the future when i'm talking to someone. research papers are not my friend and i will never like them, but i would like to learn how to make a proper research paper.
a good student is someone who comes in the classroom willing to learn. someone who listens in class, respects his/her teacher, and never has attitude. they always turn in thier work on time, gets along with the other students. always makes an effort to try their best and never gives up. always come in with a smile on their face.
a good teacher is someone who comes in the class with a smile on their face. they come in to work and not to just be there to get paid. has a good attitude towards the students and respects everyone. loves to teach and have fun at the sametime. a good teacher shoyld never judge their students.

sincerely,
ac

what can people or maybe parents do to prevent their daughters from getting pregnant?

if parents don't pressure their daughters so much about them having sex at a young age and about them being pregnant then maybe that would help young teenage girls from getting pregnant so young because if you keep pressuring them over and over again then maybe they just might have sex and get theirselves pregnant, but for some other pregnancys they might get rapped or pressured into it but all i can say is that don't pressure your daughters so much or they might just go and get theirselves pregnant.

teen pregnancy

i wanted to do teen pregnancy because it's the most common pregnancy in our society. young teenagers are getting there self pregnant by letting guys get to them and convincing them to have babies, but when the young girls get pregnant the father runs off like a little punk and not want to take care of their responsibilities. i was watching the talk show maury and he was doing a segment about young teenage girls wanting to have babies. i mean the girls were doing everything that's possible to get theirselves pregnant. then a young 15 yr. old girl came on the show and she end up having sex at a young age and having a young babyboy, her baby daddy didn't want to take care of the baby because he said it wasn't his and he was calling her all sort of names and disrespecting her on national tv, well it turned out he was the father, but he still didn't want to take care of the baby. so what i'm saying is don't get yourself caught up in all this drama and enjoy life because you will only be a teenager once.
